Interview: Ayurvedic beauty art in the form of natural cosmetics
Lifeverde.de conducted an interview with Himalaya's Dreams founder Christian Möginger.
LifeVERDE: Christian, Himalaya's Dreams can take the body into the realm of Ayurvedic beauty art. How exactly do you make that possible?
Christian: For us, our products are not just cosmetics, Himalaya's Dreams not just a company and brand, but `moments of mindfulness and pure beauty dreams`.
Our beguiling, high-quality and extraordinary fragrance essences not only kidnap the body, but also the mind. Because according to Ayurveda knowledge, oils represent a connection between body and mind. A balance based on tradition and naturalness.
With confidence in quality, health and hygiene, the imagination is stimulated in a sensual, dreamy and enjoyable way. On this basis, a self-confident cosmetic line is created.
What is the overall mission of Himalaya's Dreams and how do you put it into practice?
In the production of our natural cosmetics, we use the highest quality and most effective ingredients under the guiding principle of combining Indian Ayurvedic tradition with modern natural cosmetics for the best effect on today's demanding customer. For the effectiveness of the products, not only the special recipe but also the way of processing plays a special role. The production is a very complex process, which we implement according to traditional methods and European standards. An affair of the heart for us is to bring the country, people and cultures closer together. Best working conditions, fair trade and friendly partnerships are our highest priority.
Himalaya's Dreams stands for Ayurvedic natural cosmetics. How do you define Ayurvedic natural cosmetics and how does it differ from conventional (natural) cosmetics?
The most important aim of Ayurvedic cosmetology is to be in harmony with oneself and the laws of nature and to promote the human personality. Accordingly, body and mind form an inseparable unit and the care of the skin and hair is also approached comprehensively and holistically. Great importance is attached to the naturalness of the means used.
In the course of the revitalization of basic Ayurvedic concepts and applications, Ayurvedic dermatology, the study of the skin, was taken up again in moderate Ayurveda according to the teachings of the original Ayurveda and transferred to today's conditions and needs. Ayurveda is a natural healing system that is thousands of years old. In one of these writings, the Charaka Samhita, which dates back over 3000 years, many of the health approaches and treatment methods that are used to this day are already described.
Please present your range to us in detail and what makes it special.
Our range, which is constantly growing, currently consists of:
4 shampoos (Brahmi&Amla, Coconut&Argan, Neem and Shikakai&Lemon)
1 conditioner (herbs)
3 hair oils (Bhringraj&Amla/BLACK BEAUTY, Vitalising/INDIAN SUMMER and Smooth&Glossy)
4 body and face oils (Pink Lotus/HAPPINESS, Viola/HARMONY, Sandalwood/SERENITY and Rose/BALANCE)
2 mouth drawing oils (Santulan/BALANCE and Shakti/ENERGY)
All of our products have been certified by BDIH. In the COSMOS NATURAL and the mouth drawing oils even in the COSMOS ORGANIC standard.
Which typical Ayurvedic ingredients do you mainly use for your products and what special properties do they have to have a beneficial effect on skin and hair?
This question is not so easy to answer given the large number of our high-quality ingredients. There is no doubt that all our ingredients have a very good and special effect. However, a few of our ingredients stand out. The basis is mainly sesame oil, sunflower oil, rice germ oil and coconut oil, all of which are certified organic. These are among the Ayurveda oils and are intended to address the doshas.
Very important additions in Ayurveda are, for example:
Amla oil has been used in Ayurveda for thousands of years against hair loss and premature graying. Stimulates hair growth and is considered a super fruit in Ayurveda because of its many uses.
Jyotishmati Oil is used in Ayurveda as an antipyretic and is used as a unique nerve tonic. The seeds are used for mental performance and prevent depression.
Neem oil is ascribed antimicrobial and anti-inflammatory properties in Ayurveda and is therefore a very important component in Ayurvedic body care. It has an antibacterial effect against pimples and blackheads, makes hair shinier and stronger and counteracts dandruff.
You also offer two different mouth drawing oils. What is it and what is in it?
As an Ayurvedic morning ritual, our two mouth-pulling oils represent an important component in our cosmetics line. According to Ayurvedic belief, our tongue is an extension of the gastrointestinal tract and at the same time a reflex zone for our digestion. Its countless effects make oil pulling a holistic healing method. The oil draws toxins out of the mouth, eliminates acids that cause tooth decay, and nourishes the gums, thereby preventing gingivitis, gum recession and bad breath. Our high-quality oil composition is the best choice not only to complete oral and dental health, but also to prevent and cure chronic diseases by eliminating toxic substances. The positive properties of the mouthwash are caused by organic sesame oil, organic sunflower oil and organic coconut oil. High-quality additives such as turmeric, ginger, pepper, cinnamon and cardamom make the oil a pleasant and effective cleansing experience. This has a positive effect on the acid-base balance in the mouth.
Is mouth pulling also possible with normal oils or should one actually resort to specially made oils?
Of course, oil pulling is also possible with conventional, pure oils such as olive oil, sunflower oil or coconut oil. However, we would also recommend only using high-quality, preferably organic-certified oils. However, if you rely on a holistic method and thus on maximum effectiveness and a unique mouthfeel, we would recommend oils specially developed for this purpose. And here we have a real original in terms of recipe and production method.
Are all your products certified and do you not only value the quality of your products, but also sustainability, both in production and in the products themselves?
Yes, we have all of our current products certified, but for a company like ours, which is still very small, this process is very time-consuming and costly. Despite everything, there was only this way for us, because only the award "certified natural cosmetics" guarantees the consumer to purchase a product that is free of any concerns. The controls do not only relate to the end product, but each individual raw material and each individual manufacturing step must comply with the strict specifications of the COSMOS STANDARD. And so there are no gaps in our supply chain when it comes to sustainability. That leaves our motto: GOOD VIBES ONLY!
Thank you for the interview, dear Christian!
